my first real party in this house, i declare it a good thing. it was a red party, the idea coming from the parties that went down in leiden. in denton we did the occasional costume party, but those days were mostly devoted to finishing the keg and making noise. leiden had some great parties, and the white party has been stuck in my head for a while. so i thought, how about red? it's a very chinese color which traditionally brings good luck, and it was something i wanted to surround myself with. i was initially concerned because of the cold pouring rain; if i'd been me i surely wouldn't have left the comfort of my abode on a cold wet chinese night. to my relief, all the usual suspects showed up, the red wine flew, and we had a good time.
